Giving: The Secret Behind Being Wealthy on Earth

Giving: The secret behind being wealthy on earth.

Nobody wants to be poor, everyone wants to be comfortable and rich on earth but the key to this is giving.

Before anything can materialize in the physical realm, it would have been concluded spiritually. Just as faith is used in receiving things from God like our healing, deliverance etc, giving productively results in one being rich and wealthy on earth.

Love is the basis of both faith and giving. If you give, it must be in love if not it’s a waste. When you want to receive anything from God, make sure you have faith and your love for God and your neighbors is intact.

Giving is a spiritual transaction. It’s like sowing a seed (2 Corinthians 9: 10). In order for your seed to germinate, some conditions need to be met. Such conditions are; the soil constituency must be appropriate for the seed, the seed should be watered to enable it to grow, weed around this seed should be cleared to prevent it from choking etc.

The same goes for giving. When you give, give in love, give cheerfully and not grudgingly etc (2 Corinthians 9: 6-9). The Bible says that while the earth remaineth, seedtime, and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease (Gen 8: 22). This means that as far as there is morning and night, for every seed time, there is a harvest. For every seed sown (both good and bad), one will reap the result.

More about giving

How much you give determines how much you receive. 2 Corinthians 9: 6 “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap sparingly, and he which soweth bountifully shall reap bountifully. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ gave until He gave himself.

Giving can be attributed to a vessel which supplies water to various parts. As far as this vessel keeps supplying it’s water, it will always be refilled. Once this supply stops, so does the refilling. If one is tight-fisted, one should not expect to receive because it’s only what we sow that we can reap.

One of the reasons God blesses us is to be a blessing to others. Once you hold all the wealth to yourself, the source dries up. When you give, you receive much more than what you’ve given (Luke 6: 38), sometimes it might not be money. When you notice people going through financial difficulties, look into their giving life. It’s likely they don’t pay their tithes or are quite stingy. Me, myself and I.

Prayer cannot be substituted for giving. Even if one is a prayer warrior or pastor but does not obey the covenant concerning giving and receiving, the devourer will still present himself. This is why we have pastors and believers who still struggle financially and God is not a respecter of persons.

Benefits of giving

One of the benefits of giving has been mentioned earlier which is receiving much more. Another benefit can be seen in Malachi 3: 10- 11

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

Have you noticed that the month you decide to borrow your tithe or you don’t pay, things become tight? Sometimes it could be the engine of one’s car knocking down resulting in a lot of money being spent to repair it, sometimes the money might be spent in the hospital for one ailment or the other.

Something can just come up that will make one spend this money. In most cases, the money spent is more than the actual tithe money. In essence, you either give your money to God which will be guaranteed and bear fruits or the devil will take hold of it in one way or another. When the devourer comes, he has nothing good to offer.

 Criteria for giving continued.

When giving, an important criterion is not announcing to the whole world that you gave something.

Matthew 6: 1- 4

Vs 1: “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

Vs 2: “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Jesus explained it well in these passages. I’ve heard people say stuff like, “and I did so and so for him, see how he pays me in return, he owes me a lot, if not for my help where will he be?” God just gave you the privilege to help that person at that time because it was time for God to bless you.

No matter how much you give, you don’t merit any applause. If God didn’t give you in the first instance, you wouldn’t have been able to give. Please let’s erase this mentality of “because I did so and so for this person, I expect to receive favor from him/her”. This is not a godly mentality, we are all meant to expect our reward from God and not any man.

Having the mentality of God as our rewarder will automatically eliminate any unwanted strive and malice around one’s life regarding this area.

Finally, for your seed to be fruitful, one needs to give appropriately.

Places to sow your seed that will yield fruits

  1. Pay your Tithes
  2. Giving to the needy/ poor.
  3. Give your offerings
  4. Give to the course of advancing the Kingdom of God on earth.

Before I end, there is something important I’ll like to add. It is important that you accept Jesus into your life if you haven’t and let Him be your personal Lord and Saviour. If you are in this category, join me in the salvation prayer.
