LOVE: HOW IMPORTANT LOVE IS

More about Love

Love is very important and the topic of love is very sensitive and cannot be exhausted. From the last post, on truths about Christianity, we have an idea of who Jesus is.

Love is very important in our Christian work because God is love (1 John 4: 7- 8). Everything in Heaven operates in love, love is the reason we live a triumphant life on earth. If not for the love of God, where would we be?

Love also happens to be very important when it comes to the fruits of the Spirit. It is the first of the fruits of the Spirit and remember, it is by the help of the Holy Spirit that we can actually develop this kind of love in our hearts (Romans 5: 5). We don’t have the capacity to develop this love on our own.

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity that is presently on earth to help us. As time goes on, I will speak a bit about the Holy Spirit.

Love founded the universe and faith, prayer, giving works by love and so does every other mystery in the Kingdom of God.

Bible Answers of love

While studying the Bible, I came across a passage in Matthew 7: 21- 23

Vs 21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Now, we know that the will of the Father is the commandment given to us by Jesus. When Jesus came, He summarized all the 10 commandments into two.

In Matthew 22: 37 and Luke 10: 27

Matthew 22: 37- 39

Vs 37: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Vs 38: This is the first and great commandment.

Vs 39: And the second is like, unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Luke 10: 25- 28

Vs 25: And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Vs 26: He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

Vs 27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Still on Love

In essence, loving God first and then loving our neighbours as ourselves is what we need to do in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven or inherit eternal life. Love is at the base of this all. Once you have the love of God in your heart, you’ll automatically fulfil all the ten commandments because one will not be able to kill, steal, lie etc with this love in their heart, your conscience will be hugely pricked.

When I got to Matthew 7: 22- 23, I got bothered.

Vs 22: Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Vs 23: And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Now, ‘Many’ represented here is quite disturbing not that alone, these people actually cast out demons and prophecy in the name of Jesus, they have wonderful spiritual gifts and would be cast into the lake of fire if something doesn’t happen. What could that be? Where did they go wrong?

Answer to the question

With the help of the Holy Spirit, I found the answer in 1 Corinthians 13 vs 1- 3

Vs 1: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Vs 2: And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Vs 3: And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

How it applies to us

This show how important love is and Charity is the same as love. Even if one has all the gifts of the Spirit but does not have one particular fruit of the Spirit called love ( which is, by the way, the very first fruit of the Spirit), everything one may have worked for will go to waste (God forbid).

Unforgiveness is a product of lack of love and this is a powerful sin that creeps into the hearts of men sometimes without even knowing. Believers, strong men and women of God fall victim of this sin making them lose their place in destiny and eternity.

Examining one’s self against this sin is very important. It’s better to have forgiveness in view even before a person offends you, it’s much safer that way. As you begin developing this attitude, it becomes your way of life and walking with God becomes very much easy.

Also, that one prophecies and performs miracles is not enough proof that one is in right standing with God. The gifts and callings of God are without repentance ( Romans 11: 29)

Always examine yourself and make sure that you are in the right place with God.

In order to enjoy the benefits of making the most of your life on Earth and in Heaven, it is important that you accept Jesus into your life and let Him be your personal Lord and Saviour. If you are in this category, join me in the salvation prayer.
