A Christian walk: Benefits of tithing

Tithing is very important and necessary. Tithing is a command from God for our own benefit. we tithe so that things will not be tight around us.

Unfortunately, some men/ women of God don’t tithe rather they look for what they can receive. This is why they are still on the same spot despite the anointing, prayer, and fasting. One does not have the right to bind the devil out of one’s pocket if one does not tithe. God is not a respecter of persons and until one’s part is played, don’t expect to receive anything.

The rule for riches in the kingdom of God is through giving. You have to give to receive but tithing is the foundation. If this area is broken, giving and receiving becomes futile.

With the little time I’ve spent on earth, I’ve noticed that money differs. There are sometimes I receive some money and within a short time, it disappears. Either I don’t remember what I used the money for or a need arose that consumed everything. There are also sometimes when I receive some amount of money that last so long in my hand.

I began to wonder why this difference was occurring and later found out that sources differ. Some sources are devoid of tithing and are from the devil. Money in this category does not last instead it makes one become indebted. One of the reasons we are commanded to tight is so that the devourer will be rebuked for our sake (Malachi 3: 10).

Benefit of tithing

The second category of money that lasts is from God because anything God doeth is forever, nothing can be added to it nor anything taken away from it and God doeth it so that men can fear before Him ( Ecc. 3: 14).

It is not the amount of money one has that makes one rich but the blessing of God upon the money. Money is physical but the principles behind it are spiritual and until our part is played, we cannot see the hand of God because it is God that gives us the power to get wealth.

Deuteronomy 8: 18 says, “But thou shall remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swear unto thy fathers, as it is this day”.

Hard work, discipline, determination are all good. Before our labour can be fruitful, we need the blessing of God which only comes by obedience. Remember the Bible tells us in (1 Corinthians 3: 6-8) that Paul planted, Apollos watered but it is God that gives the increase. Insisting that worshipers give or preaching into people’s pocket instead of edifying and finding ways to build them up in Christ has made some people vow not to give. Unknowing to them, the devil is very happy about this. The enemy has found a way to perfectly rob them off of God’s blessing upon their lives.

Getting angry and making up your mind not to give because of this or that pastor only means that you have lost focus. Tithing is a spiritual transaction and Jesus is the custodian of our tithe. The 10% belongs to Him and looking at the pastor rather than Jesus is wrong.

Final note

Do the needful and hand the case over to God. Some will share their tithe into 2 and give to charity. This is half obedience (i.e half the tithe) which equals disobedience. There are various speculations about tithing.

If you’ve never been a tither or never believed in it, why not start now and see how things will begin to change.
