Helping Yourself not to Worry

Worry: Helping yourself not to worry.

Everybody goes through one form of struggle or the other. While some are coming out, others are getting into one. This has led people to worry over issues in their lives.

Some people while at work, wonder how they will scale through the month with the little money they have. No money to pay school fees for children etc.

Using a sphincter, for example, she realizes she is not getting any younger and needs to start a family. She then begins to worry, prays, fasts, cries and every other thing you can think of. The pressure from people around does not make this better. God finally answers her and she manages to escape the horror of marrying the wrong person.

After a few years of not having children, she begins to go through the same process again i.e worrying, crying etc. When she finally has her children, something then happens that will make her go through the same process all over again.

This is really stressful and drains a lot of energy. Emotional instability can lead to a lot of mental health issues. Some have found various ways of coping which could either be positive or negative. While this may help, how long is it expected to last?

It’s good for one to look back and see all that has happened in the past and notice the trend. You’ll find out that all the worrying one did when those issues came up had no input at all in the result at the end of the day.

My question then is, why worry? The truth is, we are the ones responsible for our worry.

The devil whispers scary things regarding a particular situation and people take it in with the whole of their heart resulting in panic mode, doubt, fear etc. If we could swallow Faith in what the word of God says concerning our lives just as one swallow the lies of the devil, I tell you, we’ll have peace of mind and at the same time work miracles.

Jesus speaking in Matthew 6: 27, “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (NLT).

As much as this is true and people know the truth, they can’t just help but to worry. They can’t be calm and not worry about something staring them in the face. It has become a part of them. It’s like a job which drains one’s energy.

Nobody said it was going to be easy to stop worrying but start from somewhere.

Philippians 4: 6-7

Vs 6:  Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Vs 7: Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Isn’t that wonderful? The Bible is true. Starting from somewhere, making up your mind not to allow that anxiety drain all your energy and handing it all to God is a big step.

If you believe God to take charge of a particular situation around your life, hand it over to Him and stop worrying. If you begin to worry, this means that you haven’t handed it totally over to Him. You are still holding on to some part of it and this won’t allow God to work effectively as He desires.

God wants us to be totally dependent on Him by seeing what He does in our lives and having our boost / confidence in Him. This can’t happen if we refuse to surrender all to Him and take steps.

Use the situation you are facing now as a form of practice. Be determined that you won’t worry over it. Hand it over to God in prayer and supplication, thank Him for already making it come to pass then remove your mind off it.

The devil will still come to tempt you and tell you all negative stuff about this situation. Resist him through the Word of God e.g (Philippians 4: 6- 7) and he will flee from you.

The result will begin to speak once you are conscious of this process.

Once you start little by little, you begin to develop a tough skin against anything the devil throws at you because you now know how to handle such situations. The peace of God that passes all understanding will begin to dwell in you. This peace also tends to radiate outwardly. People will see you calm in the midst of danger and wonder what “power” you are using but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do expliot (Daniel 11: 32b).

Before I end, there is something important I’ll like to add. It is important that you accept Jesus into your life if you haven’t and let Him be your personal Lord and Saviour. If you are in this category, join me in the salvation prayer.

   SALVATION PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I come as a sinner, forgive me all my sins, cleanse me with your blood. I accept you today as my personal Lord and Saviour, I am free from all powers of sin, to serve the living God.
