The peace of God: Enjoying Peace in this World full of wickedness

The peace of God: Enjoying Peace in this Wicked World.

The Peace of God that passes all understanding is very important if one wants to fully accomplish his/her plan and purpose on earth. The peace man once enjoyed was taken away when he sinned (Adam). Peace was then replaced with catastrophe, ups, and downs, troubles etc. This was not meant to be, this was not the plan God had for man. Thank God for Jesus who came and changed things. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him.

Not everyone is suffering, not everyone is depressed, not everyone is sick. Some of us have passed through one of these but we are no longer there and will never be there because we know exactly what to do when something of such wants to find its place in our lives.

The Peace of God

So many people are in search of this peace and if money could buy peace, many rich people would have gotten it leaving the poor on their own. Thank God that’s not the case because Peace is freely given. You only need to play your part by knowing and doing what it takes to have the peace of God.

When you know how to access the peace of God, 50% of the job is already done. Money cannot buy peace either can fame. In fact, I’ve found out that sometimes the more money one makes, the more unsettled one becomes and the same goes fame. Peace is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. As a believer (Christian), peace is a virtue we should have in our lives but if it’s not there, then something is wrong somewhere. People believe in worry more than they do with peace and this is very sad.

Once you’ve accepted Christ, the Holy Spirit then dwells in you and peace is one of His fruits. This means that you have the peace of God in you, all you need to do is stir it up.

How we received the Peace of God

Let’s take a look at Isaiah 53: 1-5

Vs 1: Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed.

This passage is a prophecy of what was going to happen to Jesus on earth and it was written before Jesus came to earth. He went through all these for us so that we don’t experience the same when we get to know and accept Him.

Isaiah 53: 5 (NIV) says; But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed. The peace we now have is what our Lord and Saviour was chastised for.

How do we receive the Peace of God?

  1. Firstly, become a child of God by surrendering your life to Jesus Christ. Once you do this, the Holy Spirit comes and makes His abode in you (1 Corinthians 6: 19).
  2. Stir up the gift that is in you ( 2 Timothy 1: 6- 7) and the gift of God in us is the Holy Spirit ( Acts 2: 38). Study the word of God regularly, listen to Christian tapes and literature, get to know Him more.
  3. Be led by the Spirit of God. There are times when we are troubled, staying calm and trying to pick what the Holy Spirit is saying in your Spirit will go a long way. Most people allow worries overshadow what the Spirit of God is saying at that point in time.

When the Spirit of God speaks, it comes with peace and calmness sometimes you have joy bubbling in your heart. In tough times, when you are troubled, try to stay calm. Listen to what He has to say which can come in the form of instructions or comfort. One thing I’ve learnt is when He speaks and one listens, one begins to enjoy Peace and Joy.

How can you stir up the Spirit of God in you?

i) Be conscious of His presence

ii) Have a relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit is the third person in the God-head and He longs to have a relationship with you. He is gentle and does not impose Himself on people. He’s waiting for your questions, subjects you can’t discuss with anyone, you can freely discuss with Him. He speaks to your Spirit man because that’s where He dwells.

iii) When He gives you instructions and you obey accordingly, the bond begins to grow.

One’s peace is a function of the faith one has in God. If you believe that God is true, His word is true and He can never fail then you’ll listen to what He has to say. Once you obey it, you’ll begin to enjoy the peace of God.

It is important you accept Jesus into your life if you haven’t and let Him be your personal Lord and Saviour. If you are in this category, join me in the salvation prayer.
